Buggy Tours
Chauffeured tours by golf buggy (discretionary donation), are available on Sundays and most Thursdays. Priority is given to people with disabilities.
The Railway: This will operate on our Sunday openings and on most Thursdays: See below. A number of engines will run normally including our Steamer Ernie Turner. This is a unique way of seeing the garden from another lower point of view!.
Thursday Delights:
Usually quieter days with light lunches available as well as picnic space. A chance to catch the Crab apple blossom and spring flowers as well as the early flowering shrubs. There is a well signed tour to follow (the Red Route) which shows you most of the garden away from the house and a good proportion of the 65 sculptures. For the first time in 2012 there is an October opening to see the garden from a different seasonal point of view and to perhaps pick a crab apple or two!
Barnards Miniature Railway, although for adults as well, will always operate on Thursday openings which coincide with the School Holidays.
Loyalty Cards: On Thursdays visitors may have a card stamped that entitled the holder to free entry for any garden open, Thursday or Sunday.
Sunday Extras
As well as the railway the Motor Museum is open as is the 1921 Cycle Shop. Archery is available and Driving lessons in a 1924 Model T Ford are given (free to Children between 8 and 16).
